Learn how to make videos for instruction faster, better, deeper, and targeted to your student needs. Master the basics of screen capture for your own lessons or student projects; fast editing tools; downloading appropriate videos (YouTube, etc.) so videos for lessons can be independent from bandwidth speeds or buffering. Find media through Common Core interfaces, then download it, shorten it, or give it a new sound track (or have students do it). Learn ways to present video in presentations like PowerPoint, Google Docs, Prezi, etc. If media is edging past text, then it must be just as easy to copy, paste, drag, drop, and manipulate. Media has always had great impact on teaching and learning. Match its old power to a new generation. This is not hands on but you will want to play and practice. Notes: Better to also have admin rights so you can download and practice. Most tools are free but some are not—but are inexpensive. You might want download privileges on what you bring. Expect to have fun making things!
